Easter Layouts, New Alphas and a Freebie

Today I want to share with you some of my Easter layouts that I have done already.  I plan on doing quite a few more since I have a TON of pictures from the Easter weekend.

First up is Coloring Eggs.  This layout features my son, one of his eggs, and the final bowl of eggs.  I love his expression in the picture where he is showing me his egg.  He was so proud of himself for completing that egg.  The sad/funny part is after he went to show daddy his egg and was on the way back to put it up, one of the dogs tripped him and he smashed the egg!  It was funny and sad at the same time!

This layout has several great products used in it and in case you are loving any of them I am going to tell you where you can go and get them for your very own stash!  All of the papers and elements (except alpha) are from the DSI April Collab– April Showers.  It is a great kit and very pretty and versatile.  I will tell you more about it tomorrow so come back.  The alpha is a seperate product and is called Spring Fling- Blue and is by Foxy Designs. It is not yet available in her store but will be soon!  And it also comes in Pink and Green.

The second layout I want to share with you is the Cousins.  This layout is of my two kids and my niece and nephew on Easter morning before church.

For this kit, you will notice that I again used Foxy Designs Spring Fling alphas but this time in Green and Pink.  I love this alpha and will probably be using a lot of it in the future.  For the papers in this kit I used Designs by Sweet Mesquite Easter Hop freebie!  They are some great papers.  They aren’t available as a freebie any more (only for Easter) but maybe she will be putting them in her store.

For both layouts I used templates from BTA Designs, who is guest designing over at DSI this month.  I got the change to work with her Color Lovers Vol 1 Templates and really enjoyed using them.  Of course I am a template junkie and love just about any template I can get my hands on.  They really make my scrapping a lot easier and faster.

And because I am so glas that you read to the end, here is a little word art freebie for you.  It was made using Foxy Designs Spring Fling alphas.  Enjoy!

Just click to download!

Well this past week was the final week for the NDIDDS contest and it was a doozy! Wow, what a challenge!  I took all the time we were given to compete my kit. I was ftp’ing my kit at 11:30 at night and was so afraid I wasn’t going to make the deadline.  So without further ado, here is my last NDIDDS kit. Enjoy!

I took my inspiration from that cute little moneky, Curious George!  He is such a silly little monkey.  I went with the colors from some of the original book covers, some monkies and other elements representative of the books and that curious little monkey. Then I threw in some elements that I thought would work well on layouts of little ones being curious, silly, or maybe even being read to! My kids and I love the books, that little monkey and the movie! Hope you enjoy!  The kit includes 16 papers, 32 elements including a full alpha with numbers and symbols. Not all papers and elements shown on preview.  Just click the picture above to download.

Here is a layout that I created with the kit. It features my silly little monkey!

And you don’t want to miss out on all the other fabulous kits that are available for you this week over at the NDIDDS gallery.  Just so you can kind of see what is there, I created this layout with one of the kits, Spring Bliss.  It is a very pretty kit.

So, go grab those kits!

Fishing in the Dark

Lazy yellow moon coming up tonight, shining through the trees. Crickets are singing and the lightning bugs are floating on the breeze. Baby get ready…

The opening words to one of my all time favorite songs and words that aptly describe one of my husbands favorite pasttimes!  Fishing!  He loves to fish and I usually like to go with him.  But I can no where near tolerate as much as he can.  Usually it is because I catch nothing, absolutely not a thing!  Except the one time we were cat fishing and I thought I had hooked a monster.  Man, I was so excited; jumping up and down and hollering at him to help as my pole was bending pretty close to in half.  Even he thought I had got a good one. Until the head bobbed up and it was a stinking SNAPPING TURTLE!!! I was so disgusted and mad! But that is pretty much how it goes for me.

Anyways, I gotta new digi scrap kit for you to play with! I love this one and the color palette is one of my favorites.  I hope that you like it as much as I do and maybe as much as my husband likes to fish!  So here is the preview to my kit.

The kit includes 6 12×12 Papers- 3 plain, 3 patterned; 12 Elements- 1 journal mat, 1 frame, 1 fishing hook, 1 set of lures (4), 1 photomask, 1 silhouette, 1 set of stitches, 1 binder clip, 1 wire, 2 strings; Alpha- Uppercase, Lowercase, Numbers, and Symbols.  The alpha has vowels in multiple colors for ease of use.  All items were created at 300 dpi, papers are jpg format and elements are png format.

And don’t forget to check out the other kits from the other contestants.  There are some really great kits there from some really talented ladies!  You won’t want to miss them.  I downloaded one (well, actually more than that!) to play with and here is the layout I did.

The challenge for Week 1 was a hard one for me.  We had to work with a color pallete of Black, White, Green (limited) and then choose ONE other color.  We could only use a ONE-word title for our kit. And we could use no CU items, so we had to do our own extractions.  This challenge really was getting to me; I think I went through at least three other theme and color ideas but when it came down to it I realized that they all really needed more colors to make it work and pop! Then by the time I finally settled on my theme and color, I wasn’t sure what items to scan/photograph and extract. So I just stuck to some that I already had in my little stash. I don’t have very many because truthfully I am just not that good at extracting items.  But this challenge helped me work on that and I think I am getting better!

So for my ONE color I chose a brown color that reminded me of mud.  Then for my ONE word name I went with Muddy, or at least that was what I planned on naming it! LOL! But when I was doing the preview I put Dirty on it and didn’t realize it until I was uploading the photo to Designs in Digital.  So the new name was Dirty! I did not feel like redoing the preview (I don’t save the psd file anyways! opps!), re-uploading, re-zipping, and re-ftping all the necessary files! Too much work for me.

So without further ado here is Dirty!

Just click on the picture and it will take you to my post on the DID Forum that has my download links.  In case that does not work, please CLICK HERE to go to the right place. Please, please, please leave a comment on my post there as it really helps me out in the contest.  And I appreciate it.  Plus while you are there you can check out the other contestants entries.

And here is a layout that I created with the kit (and Page in a Pinch template 29 by RLDS). Enjoy!

Do You Like A Challenge?

Do you like challenges? How about free stuff?  Well if you said yes to both those questions, you need to head on over to Bouquet of Pixels and participate in our monthly challenges!  Not only will you challenge yourself with each task and complete layouts, you will have the opportunity to get one of the BoP monthly collab kits for FREE!

BoP Collabs
Here is what you have the opportunity win this month.  Each person that completes all 7 challenges get their choice of one of the two collabs each month!

Scraplift Challenge
Each month, an outstanding layout from our gallery is chosen to be scraplifted. I really try to vary the layouts that are chosen each month but they are ones that typically have clean lines and some element or technique use that really stands out to me.  This month’s layout is by Kirsten and you can see more of her work in her gallery.  Here is the layout that was chosen:

I loved the clean lines of the layout and the way the pictures are stacked and staggered.  Here is my scraplifted layout, changed just a little.

For my layout I used the Daddy’s Girl collab that you can chose as your prize this month! I love the collab, it is filled with great papers and elements and is soo cute!

Trend/Element Challenge
One of our other challenges tha you will find in the Challenge Forum is the Trend/Element Challenge.  Each month, I focus on an emerging trend whether it is in the world of scrapping or not or a specific element.  It is then your job to incorporate these into your layout.  This month the challenge is all about Monochromatic Layouts.  So go pick out your favorite color and scrap a layout centered around that color!  Here is my inspiration for you! Now pink is not my favorite color but it went well with my photo!

For this month’s scraplift challenge, I created a template of my layout and want to give it to you.

Until next time,

Purple Spotlight, Sketchpads and a Freebie

I love being on the 3 Creative Teams I am on; especially the two that are store CT’s as it gives me the opportunity to work with some amazing designers each month! Of course the personal CT that I am on is for an equally amazing designer, but the store teams are different as it gives me a variety and that is what I need!  So this past month over at DSI, I got to download and work with some great kits.  Probably the most I have ever worked with and I am so please to show some of them off to you.  So over the next few days, you will be seeing all kinds of work from various designers! Enjoy

In the Purple Spotlight
I don’t use a lot of purples in my scrapping, I tend to stick to more earthy colors or go with pinks for my daughter and blues for my son.  So when I had the opportunity to work with In the Purple Spotlight by Misty O’Brien Designs, I was a tad worried about what I would do with it!  Here is a preview of the kit:

The kit is great as it ranges in hues from strong purples to very pale purples.   And the elements are so cute! You won’t be disappointed when you purchase this kit.  I can’t wait to use it for some layouts of my husband as purple is his favorite color!  Here is a layout made with the kit

I am in love with templates! They are so easy to use and really make my scrapping so much faster than it normally would.  I guess some people would feel they are the easy way out but I don’t. I like to take them and mix them up too by subtracting elements or flipping the design, or maybe adding another picture.  They are so much fun.  And some of the best I have found and gotten to play with are by Susan Robinson Designs.  Her Sketchpad series are wonderful! I love all of the ones that I have gotten to play with.  And although I haven’t played with them yet, she also has card templates!  I can’t wait to get my hands on those since I love making and sending cards to people; think of all the possibilities!  Here are just a couple of her products:

Here are some of the layouts that I have created using her templates

sp5kids heavensent aam0909

I have been trying my hand at making templates lately and although I do enjoy using them, I don’t see myself branching out to making them full time! But you get to benefit from my expirements!  Here is a preview of your freebie today

Well that is all for now, see you tomorrow for more goodies!

Until next time,
